Donny has trained at the Scottsdale Artist School under Clare Fry, and attended workshops instructed by Greg McHuron and Donald Puttman. He was also present at the Cowboy Artists of America workshop in West Yellowstone, Montana.
He has been a participant at the C.M. Russell Art Show in Great Falls, Montana, and has sold his work to a number of western art collectors, among them entertainer Connie Stevens. Donny’s oil paintings reflect the subtleties, humor, and daily lives of his western subjects. He is a true contemporary artist offering a unique style to our artistic heritage.
Ranching
Son of a cattle rancher and a native of Sublette County, Wyoming, Donny finds inspiration for his art in everyday people and events representing the western lifestyle.
Pioneer Wagon Trails
Traveling across the country in a wagon give a person a new view of what the pioneer that settled this country faced on the trip.I was fortunate to be able to travel the Oregon trail from Fort Laramie to Fort Bridger in 1991
In 1997 I drove the Wyoming Sponsored wagon on the Mormon Trail from Omaha, Nebraska to Salt Lake City, Utah
In 1999 was able to travel the California Trail from St. Joe, Missouri to Coloma, California
Wild Criitters
Living in Wyoming provides a lot of wild critters for inspiration. My paintings of Wildlife (Moose, Buffalo, Antelope) are some of the many. (I also have to include some Cowboys and Cowgirls I know.)
